October 10, 2010  Darby Fire Company took home 6 first place awards at the 2010 Delaware County Firemen's Association Parade on Saturday. With our apparatus remaining in service, our members spent night and day cleaning equipment in preparation for the parade. Brian Boru Pipe Band played for us, as over 50 members of the fire company marched in the parade.

Marching last in the parade, members did it "Darby Style" by being the only fire company marching past the grandstand and straight to Company 72's house.

Awards taken home were:

"1st Place Best Appearing Fire Company Overall"

"1st Place Best Appearing Fire Company with at least 20 members and a band"

"1st Place Best Appearing Band"

"1st Place Best Appearing Company Owned Antiques"

"1st Place Best Appearing ALS Unit"

"1st Place Best Appearing Mascot"

We would like to thank everyone who spent hours cleaning and preparing for this event. Your hard work paid off!

October 4, 2010  In front of a packed house, the Collingdale Borough Council recognized emergency responders with a Merit Award for Valor due to their assistance in not only extinguishing the fire at Scully Propane Corp. but going above and beyond the call of duty to protect the lives and property of the Borough residents. The crew of 04-2 was the first arriving unit at the scene and despite the extreme danger from numerous explosions, members bravely advanced hoselines to attack the fire and protect the exposures from the rapid spread of fire.

With the first responding crew of 04-2 present, Chief Caruso accepted a plaque from the Collingdale Borough Council on behalf of Borough and its residents. About 100 people were present during the recognition, as well as members from Darby Fire Company and their families.

October 1, 2010  The Darby Creek once again overflowed its banks, causing some of the worst flooding since Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

Crews responded to over 30 emergency calls as the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole moved through the area Thursday into Friday. Members evacuated about 60 residents, including some that had to be rescued by ground ladders from the second floor of their residence in the 900 block of Springfield Rd. In one rescue, crews rescued a wheelchair-bound man from the roof of his porch roof via Quint 06.

By about 11am the floodwaters had begun to recede and crews began to assist with the clean up.

The Officers and Members of Darby Fire Company would like to thank all the mutual aid companies that assisted.
