On Friday, September 16th at approximately 830pm, Companies 92 04 21 R42 L16 RIT 19 were dispatched to 3rd St and Walnut for a building fire. 48 cars ( Colwyn Police) arrived and reported heavy smoke from 216 or 218 Walnut. 041 staffed with 5 arrived and confirmed the police report and reported smoke showing from 216 Walnut. The crew from 041 stretched 1.75 waterline and located a bedroom fire on Division 2. R42 assisted with ground ladders, 21 laddered the building while 16 secured the utilizes. All searches negative and fire was placed on under control in 15 minutes.

Darby Fire Company #1 will be attending a Dedication Ceremony at Clifton Heights Fire Company at 1pm and a Remembrance Ceremony at Darby Recreational Center at 3pm. This is to honor those brave men and women who lost their lives 10 years ago today. Never Forget.

Shortly after 2300hrs, Companies 04, 21, and 42 were dispatched to the 400 block of Darby Terrace for the building fire. While 04-1 was responding, PD advised smoke showing from 413 Darby Terrace. 04-1 arrived confirming smoke showing from a 2 story middle of the row from division 2. 04-1 dropped a supply line and went in service with an 1 3/4" handline. The fire was located on division 2 side A bedroom in a closet. Crews extinguished the fire and preformed overhaul and ventilation. Crews in service for approximately 2 hours. On Wednesday August 31st, New Construction started in the side lot of the firehouse. The concrete slab was broken up and removed. This is one of many stages to go in this long process.

On Saturday August 27th the Delaware Valley was expecting a rain storm to remember. Hurricane Irene came up the coast and hit the Delaware County Area hard. As the rain was dropping the Darby Creek once again started to spill over the banks and start some major flooding for the Darby Borough Area. Station 04 was staffed with about 24 for the storm which brought in about 32 Calls for the duration. Everyone worked together between the Fire, EMS and Police. Thank You to all the members who spent time volunteering during the storm.

August 20th  Darby Fire Company's annual picnic took place. With a severe thunder storm and hail threats, the picnic was moved from the pool to the firehouse. Members enjoyed great food and games while all the kids played around in the rain. Crews had both Engines and Utility staffed with full crews in preparation of the storm which brought 0 calls for the day. Thank You to the Picnic Committee for a great time.

August 19th  A crew of 40 members took a long trip down to Washington DC to see the Phillies play the Nationals in Major League Baseball. Crew left the firehouse around 1:00 PM and had a fun and exciting bus ride down interstate 95. Members then tailgated before walking over to the ballpark to enjoy the ballgame. However, 4 batters into the game a downpour of rain came crashing down causing a 2 hour rain delay, causing the trip to leave Washington DC early and head home to Darby. Everyone enjoyed themselves and can't wait for next.

August 13th  As the rain moved in, both Engines started to pick up sandbags for the local business's in preparation for the flood threat. While enroute to pick of the sandbags, Engine 04-1 noticed that the Macdade Blvd bridge was already under 1 1/2 feet of water. Engine 04-1 and Engine 04-2 then blocked traffic and 4th and 5th district fire police were then requested to the scene. Crews stood by for about an hour and waited for the water to recede.

August 18th  At 16:08, Companies 04 and 21 were dispatched to the 100 block of Ridge Avenue in Darby for the car fire. As Engine 04-1 was leaving the station, crews spotted a header over the trees. Upon arrival, crews encountered a large SUV well involved. 04-1 went in service with an 1 3/4" handline and extinguished the vehicle. Upon 21-5 arrival, Lt. Traband ordered them to the adjacent church to check smoke conditions. Crews in service for 30 minutes.

July 26. 2011  At 12:25 hours the fire company was dispatched to 1021 Tyler Avenue for a building. 04-7a arrived and found a 2 story twin the fire showing on side "Delta". 04-1 arrived and went in service with and 1'3/4 hoseline. The bulk of the fire was knocked down with in 10 minutes and command reported 3 lines in service and primary search was negative. Crews remained on scene for about an hour.
